Everyone wants the outside of their home to give off a good impression when people first come up, especially if you are trying to sell your home. We have come up with some simple tips and tricks you can do in just one weekend to enhance curb appeal to make your home desirable and admirable.
Paint
It’s amazing what a touch of paint can do to the front of a house. Whether it is painting the siding, front door, or the shutters, a fresh coat can really brighten up your house. Gallons of paint are about $30 each, so you won’t break the bank giving your home a makeover. Choose a bold color to make your house stand out from your neighbors and catch passerby’s eyes.

Plants
Even if you don’t have a green thumb, buying potted plants or making a little garden in the front of your house can draw a lot of attention and enhance curb appeal. You plant a tree or two in the front yard or simply put some potted plants on the porch or stoop next to the front door. A common practice is putting flower boxes underneath the front windows. Colorful flowers will look amazing in the spring and summer and really brighten the outside of your house.
Take a Look at the Roof
Most homeowners don’t take the time to examine their roof. Take a step back and examine to see if there are missing shingles or needs a good cleaning. Cleaning off your roof and cleaning out the gutters can make an extreme difference in the curb appeal of your home. A clean looking house is an admirable house.
Update Your House Numbers
Another aspect of a house most homeowners look over are the house numbers. Are they dirty and starting to become loose? If so, give them a good cleaning or replace them altogether. Make sure you choose numbers that go with the style of your home. If it is a farmhouse, then pick numbers that will blend in a little. If it is more contemporary and modern, feel free to pick some funky numbers to represent your home. Make sure they are easy to see from the street. It’s a minor detail, but it can make all the difference.
Wash Your House
Give your house a nice sudsy bath! Over time the siding can get brown and streaked from snow and rain. Use a pressure washer to clean off the dirt and grime from the side of your house. If you find that your sidewalk or driveway could use a good scrubbing too, feel free to turn that pressure washer right over to them.
Outside Light Fixtures
Your house shouldn’t look good only during the day. Add some solar powered lights to the pathway leading up to the front door or some new light fixtures on either side of the door. This shows that your house is welcoming at all hours of the day and will draw attention to it throughout the night.
Symmetry is Key
We’re sure you’ve heard that symmetry is pleasing to the eye. If you have a front porch with furniture and potted plants, set them up to be as symmetrical as possible. Put two light fixtures on either side of the door or a single light fixture above the front door. Add a potted plant on either side of the front door. It is calming and looks put together.
