Summer is over and the leaves are starting to change. The great thing about Philly is that no matter what the season it, it never fails to bring exciting events for its residents to enjoy! From beer festivals to pumpkin picking to being terrified at haunted houses, we’ve come up with the top things to do this fall in Philly. There’s something for everyone!
Linvilla Orchard’s Pumpkinland
September 9 – November 5
Travel outside of the city for a fun day with your family at legendary Linvilla Orchards. Admire creatively carved Jack-O-Lanterns, pick your own juicy apples, and enjoy other fall treats while learning legends and stories about the harvest.

Test your bravery by walking through America’s largest haunted house hosted at Eastern State Penitentiary located on Fairmount Avenue. With six fearful attractions you can get into the Halloween mood quickly after being face-to-face with a crazed zombie.
October 1
Federal Donuts will be hosting a free block party from 1-4 pm in Center City on Sansom Street to celebrate the release of their new cookbook, Federal Donuts: The (Partially) True Spectacular Story. Make sure to grab a free donut from the peg wall and enjoy $5 beers and other tasty treats.
The Glow: A Jack O’Lantern Experience
October 6 – October 29
Make sure to grab your tickets early for this creative art show! View over 5,000 hand-carved pumpkins in West Fairmount Park during this Halloween season. Enjoy pumpkins that represent Philadelphia and some of your favorite celebrities. All ages welcome!

Enjoy live music on multiple stages, boutique vendors, food and drink, and children’s activities during this exciting fall festival. From 12-8 pm guests can walk down 13th Street in Center City and enjoy Philadelphia’s festivities.

From 11 am – 6 pm, this fest draws in over 20,000 people to enjoy live entertainment, food and drinks, activities, and vendors. Experience the history of the city where our country was founded while spending time with friends and trying some of Old City’s best restaurants.

They call it the Gayborhood for a reason! Outfest celebrates the world’s largest coming-out day by taking over 10 square blocks of the Center City neighborhood to offer entertainment, vendors, food and drink, and support for the LGBTQ Community.
October 14
The west side of South Street offers a full day of entertainment, beer, food, and fun for all ages during their successful Bloktoberfest celebration. Make sure to buy tickets early before it sells out!
October 19 – October 29
Movie buffs and couch potatoes, this is an event for you! View new movies before they hit the big screen right in your hometown. Watch different genres that you may have never heard of or have always wanted to give a try.
October 20 – October 21
Calling all witches and wizards! Come out to Chestnut Hill’s famous, now bigger than ever Harry Potter Festival. Sip on some butterbeer while watching a game of Quidditch or test your knowledge at Harry Potter trivia. Don’t forget your wand!
October 28
From the hours of 8 am to 1 pm, a 7-mile stretch of Philly’s streets will be car-free. Ride your bike or go for an early morning walk without the sound of cars flying through the streets. Feel safe while walking on a crosswalk without fearing the Philly-roll.
November 19
On your mark, get set, go! Philly residents can participate in either the half or full marathon on Philly’s most scenic route or stand on the sidelines cheering the runners on. Make sure to bundle up though!
Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade
November 23
Celebrate Thanksgiving Day on the Parkway with 6ABC Dunkin’ Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade. Admire large floats and some of your favorite artists perform in this traditional Philly celebration. Don’t forget to cheer on Santa at the end!
