“Living in Philly” interview series where realtor Cherise Wynne (“Agent Lady”) highlights interesting people & organizations in the civic, real estate, restaurant and lifestyle space that help first time home buyers navigate our great city of Philadelphia.
Meet Nate Nichols, Founder of the Palette Group
Agent Lady: In regards to the Palette Group, when people ask that famous question “what do you do”, how do you typically answer?
Nate: Typically I respond, “I dunno.” Just kidding, I wish though. My typical response is I collaborate with creatives to deliver hella imaginative projects.
Agent Lady: What does the Palette Group do, what neighborhood(s) does it provide products/services in, and what do you find special about those Philly areas?
Nate: We’re a creative and digital marketing agency. We specialize in imaginative creative and marketing strategies. Our clients are typically re-imagining the way in which they engage their audience or their industry as a whole.
We’re located in South Kensington, North Philly. I love this neighborhood because there is a public school on the block and the kids love knocking on our window to ask us what we’re up to. Some of them have come in, and we have built relationships. It feels good to be a tangible role model for kids who have never seen a young entrepreneur in their whole life.
Agent Lady: How do you believe the Palette Group is making Philadelphia better?
Nate: We’re community and culture building agency. Everything we do is for cultures and community, from our creative work, marketing strategies and small gatherings at out Studio in North Philly.
Agent Lady: If you had to choose between a Philly cheesesteak or a Philly pretzel, what would you choose?
Nate: Cheesesteak, but really a sandwich from Paesanos is always the move.
Agent Lady: What’s the biggest misconception people have about your industry or type of organization?
Nate: I think people presume our social media work is simply posting content to our client’s channels. In reality, it’s connecting with their audience in a special, intimate, meaningful way. We want to create intimate experiences between our brands and their audience, which is a challenge given our portal to their emotions is their phone or computer. We live for the challenge though!
Agent Lady: What is the nerdiest thing you do in your spare time?
Nate: Recently, I’ve become an art snob and have been studying contemporary artists. Reading the rationale behind their work and processes. I nerd out trying to understand how their identity and creative capacity are bridged between their rationale.
Agent Lady: What is your favorite word?
Nate: Right now, it’s a German word: Heftig — Translated: HEAVY.
Agent Lady: If you had to pick another career what would it be?
Nate: Toss up between Artist and Motivational Speaker. They are both strange though.
Agent Lady: For anyone looking to buy their first home in Philly or move to the Philly area, what do you have to say to them?
Nate: Mm, good question. Figure out what your favorite cocktail is, and don’t stop drinking at bars until you find your favorite rendition of the drink. Mezcal Old Fashions are my jam, and my favorite is at Charlie was a Sinner.
Agent Lady: If someone wanted to learn more about you or the Palette Group, where could they go?
Nate: They can see our work at Palettegrp.com
